Nexcomm Systems, Inc., a global leader of Ethernet access over copper solutions, announced the N5000, the Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) based Multi-Service Access Platform (MSAP) in regards of the EtherX platform family. This MSAP revolutionarily enables service providers to establish an intelligent Ethernet access network with the advanced features of N5000, such as comprehensive and easy OAM & P functions and future-proof traffic management and QoS over EFM.
Similar to N500 and N550A series, the CPEs of the EtherX family, Nexcomm¡¯s N5000 ensures the 3 basic elements of a good network device, performance, resiliency and simplicity. It enables service providers have easier migration of their services from legacy network to next generation network over existing copper infrastructure, without deploying expansive fiber optic lines.
At the same time, N5000 can maximize ROI by flexibly deploying services either over copper or over fiber with single platform without operating two separate systems for each media. Therefore, service providers can quickly deploy a comprehensive suit of services by using one converged platform which saves the operational cost.
In regards of the operational cost, N5000 provides easy and user friendly OAM & P functions in provisioning and managing. N5000 is interoperable with Fast and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces from switches, routers, and NG-SONET/SDH equipments. The management interfaces includes comprehensive command-line interface (CLI), user-friendly GUI Web management, SNMP and Telnet.
N5000 also provides future-proof features meeting Ethernet Quality of Service (QoS) and Class of Service (CoS) requirements by utilizing 802.1q VLAN and DSCP capabilities, stacked VLANs (Q-in-Q), four levels of priorities, traffic flow control and rate control. This traffic management and QoS features enable services providers to offer highly profitable and value-added services to a vast majority of business and institutional sites.
